The Greek Folk Dancers of NSW was founded in 1992 under the Instruction of Vasilios Aligiannis.
The Classes of the Greek Folk Dancers of NSW are taught by Vasilios Aligiannis.
he Greek Folk Dancers of NSW, established in 1992 by Vasilios Aligiannis, initially offered Greek dance lessons and exhibitions. In 2020, the group underwent a revitalization and rebranding, becoming known as the Institute of Hellenic Dance and Culture, formerly known as The Greek Folk Dancers of NSW, or "O Thrasivoulos". in 2024, our dance Instructor was asked to direct the Hellenic Lyceum of Sydney.

So today, the Institute of Hellenic Dance and Culture is the trade name for Vasilios Aligiannis, dance instructor.
The dance group is now called the Hellenic Lyceum Sydney.

Philosophy
We believe in the preservation of dances, music and costumes in their traditional form.
We believe that the teaching and stage presentation of dances must be based on ethnographic research of the areas or villages presented.
